Prioritising and supporting the growth of key industries is critical to facilitating sustainable economic growth and employment opportunities. Kaiser works across a number of sectors, including agriculture, agro-processing and food, tourism, chemicals, electronics & ICT, jewellery and crafts.
The diagram below shows an example of one of Kaiser's industry development models:
Our key areas of focus include:
Sector strategy and development
Kaiser works with a wide range of industry sectors to design and implement development strategies. We have a particular focus on market access, exploiting value-add opportunities, transforming industry structures, financing, and value chain development.
Cluster development
Industry clusters - local agglomerations of companies from a specific sector, along with related and supporting sectors - have become an increasingly important focus area. The benefits of sector specialisation resulting from increased levels of efficiency, innovation, and subsequently competitiveness have been widely publicised, and have encouraged regional and local governments to put significant resources into developing existing and latent local clusters. Identifying those clusters that have the best potential, however, is a significant challenge; and implementing cluster strategies is even more so. Kaiser has significant experience working with government, industry, academics, and other key institutions in putting in place effective and sustainable cluster strategies.
Tourism sector development
Tourism is one of the most rapidly growing sectors globally, and it is highly valued for its potential to deliver substantial employment opportunities, particularly in rural areas. Kaiser has brought together specific tourism experience with our expertise in economic development policy and planning to assist the tourism sector in meeting the challenges of an increasingly competitive environment. Kaiser offers tailored consulting services with the full range of destination development activities - from policy to strategy to implementation support - including: tourism sector planning, market assessments and demand studies, marketing strategy, business planning, viability assessments, economic impact appraisals, institutional development, and training and skills development.
